BioAugustus Rookwood is a fictional character, copyright JKR. This is simply a sandbox.
| ♚ ♣ the gentleman Rookwood, upon first and often subsequent meetings, appears to be a proper pureblood gentleman, excepting that he is a bachelor, with an interest in helping the next generation develop properly. His fashion is not quite as wondrous as people seem to remember it (though it never falls below a certain standard) because he acts fashionable. His cool calm-headed manners and ability to use anything on him in a fashionable air builds that appearance. He has ruined too many good robes to choose to dress finely on a regular basis. At almost all times, he acts the perfect gentleman, greatly capable of hiding anything not upholding the image, such as sient household charms for when unexpected guests call on him. The gentleman is the man the world sees. |
 | the torturer ♣ ♚ This side of Rookwood is kept most private. Torture is a fine delicacy he enjoys above almost all other. When he takes the time for such an act, it is only when he is in complete control, with no chances to lose it. His need for control is satisfied greatly during this practice. The man knows more techniques than most, both mental and physical. Many of the physical ones, the man has tested upon himself, so as to completely know and understand the effects it shall have on his victims. He rarely leaves loose ends, and torture of some sort is often how he takes care of them. Some games are already in motion. Rookwood slaughtered Caradoc Dearborn's parents and tortured his siblings - a pleasurable act but simply a careful ploy to lay the groundwork for the true case, Caradoc himself. |
| ♚ ♥ the mentor Rookwood is not a charismatic leader in the traditional sense. He does not move large crowds or even stand out in them very much. Yet he leads often on an individual basis, as he takes pleasure teaching and mentoring those younger than him. And on that level, he can be charismatic, paternal, and guiding. Rookwood can be quite generous in passing on lessons - tricks of both mind and magic. He takes a fondness to those he mentors, though emotionally he tends to separate himself from people. As he is quite particular about those he takes under his wing, Rookwood often stalks those in his care on a regular basis, to stay informed and to aid them. Already an excellent reader of people, he is master at it with his pupils. Narcissa Black has been one of his from a young age, and indeed she is essentially a niece to him, taking the place of his beloved deceased sister, Drusilla. Matthew Johnson is more formally under his wing - a pupil who learns magic and lessons from him. |
the death eater ♠ ♚ Augustus Rookwood saw the war as simply an opportunity to do what he greatly enjoyed, with less chance of getting caught or blamed individually. After all, should anything go awry, there are so many bodies to take his place, that he does not see joining - even getting marked - as much of a risk to his health. And besides, Rookwood thinks it very unlikely that Voldemort should lose, and clearly helping the wizard succeed will only help Rookwood's position afterward. Given his position in the ministry, his involvement is focused on a spying level. He has cultivated many friendships in the Ministry and many ways of gathering information about the other departments, which is useful to the dark lord. He has been involved regularly in some duels and torture sessions, finding that the pleasure of the job, along with taking young death eaters under his wing and teaching them. Yet, all in all, he is not so truly devoted as many others. | |
